THE SCHOLAR AND THE UGLY WIFE

Once a scholar set out to look for Islamic knowledge, but before he traveled, he asked his father who was also an Imam in their town to look for a wife for him before he gets back. The scholar went and years passed by. He finally made his mind to come back home. All his family were happy he has come back. With haste, he asked his father where his wife was. He was shown to his wife but he didn’t seem happy. He said to his father, “after my years out there in search for knowledge, look at the kind of wife u got for me”!

He was very angry because he saw the wife not to be that beautiful. So night came and they went to bed. During the middle of the night, the ugly wife tried waking the scholar up but he refused. So she sprinkled water on the scholar, he woke up and tried to shout at her but she read the hadith of the prophet Muhammad SAW saying, when a husband or wife wakes his half up for Tahajjud prayer, Allaah will grant them His Mercy. He understood and led her in the prayer. After making Tasleem (making salaam at the end of Salaat), he turned to look at the ugly wife and he said:

“Since my mom gave birth to me, I have never seen a beautiful woman like her”.
